Afus is a city in Isfahan province, 38 km west of Daran city and 180 km west of Isfahan. The city is located at an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level and has a beautiful mountain range and Snow catcher to the south. A spring at the foot of this mountain emerges from the heart of the earth, the water of which flows to Afus. This water along the way, gathers behind an earthen dam and forms a beautiful lake. The blue reflection of the sky and the snow-capped mountains on the water of this lake is really beautiful and spectacular.
In the place of the source of this spring, a tourist complex has been built to receive tourists.
Most of the people of Afus are Georgians whose ancestors migrated from Georgia during the reign of Shah Abbas.
Afus is said to be a city with a high level of security, with no clashes in the last 60 years without a police force.
Some of the ceremonies and celebrations of the ancestors of the Georgian people are still performed in this city, like the Mangali ceremony and the Women’s Government Day.
Mangali is an old custom that on the Nowruz ( first day of Eid ), the first guest that entered any family, is considered auspicious and given as a gift, and in the following years, he must be the guest of that family.
In celebration of Women’s Government Day, which takes place on June 10, men leave the city and leave all city affairs to women.
Afus also has a ski slope at the foot of adjacent Mountain.
