Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan province and the most important commercial and tourism port of Iran on the shores of the Persian Gulf is located 1280 km south of Tehran and has a population of about five hundred thousand people.
The old name of Bandar Abbas was Bandar Gambron and now, in memory of the historical antiquity of Bandar Abbas, some newly established tourist spots in the south of the country are named Gambron.
The port of Gambron has been occupied by the Portuguese for a long time, and when Shah Abbas expelled the Portuguese from the area about 400 years ago, the port was renamed Bandar Abbas in his honor.
