Historical Gharneh Village & Castle is located in the southeast of Isfahan, 45 km from Isfahan to Hassanabad Jargaviyeh road. It is said that this village is several thousand years old.
Until about fifty years ago, the desert village of Gharneh have been completely inhabited and was the residence of khans and lords of the region. There were many farms here and agricultural products and poppies were grown here.
There are several aqueducts around this village, but unfortunately all of them have dried up. In the aerial maps of this region, you can see many rosary-like strings that represent the aqueduct wells in this region.
Remains of a castles and fortifications and lordly houses with ponds and fountains and mirrored and painted rooms with plasterworks in this village can be seen. These houses are known to date from Safavid to Qajar.
There is also a small artificial lake next to the village. Previously, this lake was a freshwater reservoir of the village.
The main alley of the village is paved and there is a small beautiful square on the sidewalk in the village, around which there are old porches.
The road from Isfahan city to Gharneh village can be considered for a one day cycling tour.
