100 km southeast of Isfahan city, a series of sandy hills in the form of quicksand dunes with a length of 40 km has been stretched.
This sandy desert is stretched in the north-south direction between Varzaneh and Hassan Abad Jarghoyeh regions.
Gav Khouni wetland and salt plains formed in the south of this wetland are located in the eastern side of this sandy desert.
The northern end of this sandy desert is known as Varzaneh desert due to its proximity to the city of Varzaneh, and the southern end of this desert, because it is located near the village of Khara in Hassanabad Jargaviyeh, is called the Khara desert.
A pleasant two or three hour walk on the soft sands of Khara Desert will take you to the eastern heights of this sandy desert, where you can see the view of Gavkhouni swamp and its salt plain from afar.
From Khara village, there is a dirt road to the salt mine in the southern part of Gavkhouni wetland. If you decide to move on this road to the lagoon, you must be very careful because there is a possibility of getting stuck in the polygon and salt swamps of this area.
