Neor Lake is located 60 km southeast of Ardabil at an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level. The border line between Ardabil and Gilan provinces passes through the middle of this lake.
Neor Lake is a freshwater lake. In winter, the surface of the lake freezes completely. In early spring, the Salmon babies are released into the lake, and in September a fishing festival is held in the lake because the fish will not survive during the winter.
The water of Neor Lake is supplied by many hidden springs around the lake. These springs create a swampy and muddy state on the edges of the lake, which becomes the cradle of frogs and yellow flowers. Due to the presence of frogs, there are snakes around the lake, which of course are non-venomous.
The beautiful view of Neor Lake and its beaches along with the view of the mountains around the lake and the reflection of their images in the lake is very attractive and spectacular.
