Taftan peak with an altitude of nearly 4000 meters above sea level is located in Sistan and Baluchestan province,160 km south of Zahedan.
Taftan Peak is one of the semi-active volcanic peaks and sulfur gas is constantly emitted from the top of this mountain and leaves yellow sulfur deposits. In Iran, only Damavand and Taftan peaks have sulfur eruptions
The access route to Taftan Mountain is through Zahedan to Khash road, which should be entered To a side road which reaches the foot of Taftan Mountain in the western front of this mountain.
The beginning of the ascent route from the western front of Taftan is from an area called Darreh Gol, which has welfare facilities for mountaineers to rest. On the ascent route to Taftan through the western front, a large shelter called Sobah has been built at an altitude of 3230 meters above sea level. In autumn and winter, strong winds blow in Taftan, especially near its peak.
