Karun 3 Dam, one of the largest dams in Iran, is located on the Karun River, on the Izeh-Dehdez road, 30 km from Izeh in Khuzestan Province.
Since the construction and water intake of this dam, the connection of the villages on the other side of the dam, such as Sheyvand village and Gharibiha village, with other areas was cut off. These villages are located in the heart of the mountains of the region and there is no possibility of any land road connection with other places. For this reason, ships like the Landing Craft called Barge have been set up to move villagers and their vehicles across the lake.
Tourists usually go across the lake to visit the Sheyvand Waterfall.
A small pier called Rekat (Shaloo) pier, 5 km from dam, is a place to ride barges or speedboats. From this pier to the pier of Sheyvand village is about 15 km, which barges travel an hour and a half and fast boats about three quarters of an hour.
Navigating this blue path in the lake is enjoyable because you have the blue lake in front of you, meanwhile the adjacent heights with oak trees have become a beautiful part of this scene. If you travel by barge, you will also see the villagers boarding and disembarking in the villages along the way, which is enjoyable.
