Yazd province is a desert province that in addition to Yazd city, has several historical cities such as Meybod and Ardakan which are located on the edge of the desert.
Yazd and other cities of Yazd province have a special attraction for domestic and foreign tourists. There are numerous historical monuments in these cities, some of which date back to befor Islam period.
Yazd province has the highest population of Zoroastrians in Iran and the city of Yazd has several historical sites or places of worship related to Zoroastrians. Another attraction of Yazd and the surrounding cities is the sweet accent of the people of Yazd and their simplicity and warmth and hospitality. Traditional accommodation in the old part of Yazd is another urban attraction of this province. Yazd and other cities of Yazd province are famous also for having delicious sweets.
