Gilaks
The Gilaks tribe, which take their name from the Gil tribe, lived in the plain region of Gilan province, even before the Aryans came to this land. After the Arab invasion, the Gilakis were an Iranian people who resisted the Arabs. Then the Gilaks tribe gradually accepted Islam and the Shiite religion. The Gilaki language is lexically similar to the Kurdish and Lori languages. The people of Gilak have a spirit of freshness and cheerfulness and are very hospitable people.
The Gilak people live in the plains of Gilan province on the southern shores of the Caspian Sea. The Gilak people live from the eastern part to Tonekabon and Chalous areas and in the western part to Talesh mountains.
