The nature of East Azerbaijan province has mountainous and forested areas as well as lower areas. Arasbaran forests are located in the northern part of this province. East Azerbaijan province is the confluence of the Alborz and Zagros mountains. Sahand Mountain is located in this province. Lake Urmia is located between the provinces of East and West Azerbaijan.
