Quran Gate is a reconstructed monument and old gate in Shiraz city. The Quran Gate is located in Allah-o Akbar Strait at the northern entrance of Shiraz, at the beginning of the Marvdasht & Isfahan road.
The reason for naming this building to Quran is that it was placed a Quran above this gate to protect travelers from the dangers of travel while passing under the gate, according to a religious belief.
The original construction of the Quran Gate was done in the time of Diliman (Al-e Buyeh) In the fourth century AH. Then it was repaired and rebuilt in the Zandieh and Qajar periods. Then it was destroyed in the Pahlavi period and then a new building was built for the gate.
Near the Quran Gate, there is a monument of Khwaju Kermani Tomb, a poet of the eighth century AH.
