The mausoleum mansion is built on a thousand square meters of infrastructure and a height of about 18 meters, with all the splendor and like the Achaemenid buildings. A mansion resembling the tomb of Cyrus in Pasargadae, and with wide steps like the steps of Persepolis Palace.
The interior design of the tomb also includes beautiful marble capitals inspired by Parthian architecture.
Construction of the tomb began in 1924 and was finally completed after reconstruction and consolidation in 1958.
The statue of Frousi and then the statue of other characters of Shahnameh are beautifully placed in the garden and open area around the tomb.
Embossments of Shahnameh poems and embossed images of Shahnameh stories adorn the inner walls of this tomb.
On each outer side of this temple-like tomb, poems from the Shahnameh are engraved on large tablets.
In the mansion of the tomb, except for the tombstone of Ferdowsi, there is a section for the museum of historical monuments and also the library.
It is said that more than one million people visit Ferdowsi’s tomb every year.
The tomb of the contemporary poet, Mehdi Akhavan Sales, is also located in the open outer area of the tomb.
